Today, Target tweeted that anyone who has found a steal of a deal on a clearance rack that almost seems too good to be true has experienced “valutopia.” I loved it. I began thinking back to some of the things that I have picked up this year that, for one reason or another, I got for a ridiculously good price. Sale, clearance, coupons…doesn’t matter. A deal is a deal. And a great deal, according to Target, is valutopia!!
With the year coming to an end, I thought back about what I felt were the deals that gave me extreme valutopia this year. I could think of a few. Here are the ones that came to mind before all others:
Christian Audigier Heavy Metal Peaches Large Tote: I am very familiar with the Ed Hardy line but didn’t know much about Christian Audigier’s style and fashions themselves. After getting this purse in black for Christmas, I decided to do a little research. It didn’t take long after looking at the styles and the prices that I realized this designer is a BIG name in the fashion industry. Then I saw my purse on the designer’s website. $252?? Are you KIDDING ME? Flipping out, I ran to my husband, yelling that he had spent too much money on this gift for me and I really didn’t need it. When I showed him the bag online and its price, his jaw dropped. It seems him and my daughter found it at TJ Maxx on the clearance rack for…get this… $30. A $252 designer handbag for only thirty bucks. That gift is certainly considered a valutopia!
Sofia by Sofia Vergara Women’s Gold Tipsy Red Carpet Pump: You don’t have to spend a fortune to have the look that some of the sexiest women in Hollywood have. When Sofia Vergara launched her line for Kmart this summer, women went wild for the sexy, high fashion looks and styles without the hefty price tags. I fell in love with these shoes the minute I saw them, but didn’t know if I could justify the already low price for a pair of flashy pumps I might not get a ton of wear out of. This week, while at Kmart, I was given a 20% off footwear coupon alone with a notice that I had over $15 in reward dollars. When I went to see if the glitter Sofia shoes were still there, they were—-marked down to $19.99!! After all of my discounts…I paid a wallet-breaking 99 cents for the shoes. Valutopia #2!
Guess? 3 Hearts Logo Bracelet: I love designer jewelry. The pieces are usually different, eclectic, and bold. This year, I had put a Guess? bracelet on my wishlist after seeing one I loved back at the beginning holiday season. Unfortunately, Santa didn’t drop the bracelet into my stocking with care. In fact, he didn’t drop it off at all. So after Christmas was over, I decided to take a peek to see if maybe that bracelet was still there. Not only was the bracelet (along with a lot of other great Guess? jewelry) at the store, but it was marked down, half price. When the cashier asked if I had a “coupon” with me, I said no… but asked if he had an extra. He smiled and said yes, and gave me another 50% off! Total discount?—75% off! So I got my killer Guess? bracelet for Valutopia price of $7.50!!!
So, all of you fashionistias, I have to know…what was your valutopia of 2011??? Was it a makeup item? Clothes? Shoes? Handbag? Jewelry? I want to know! There is nothing better than hearing about great deals and steals when we come across them, and it’s even more fun to share them with your friends. So spill your valutopia moment. And big thanks to Target for giving it a perfect name!
